SnowJam2014

My second post ever was originally going to be a little “About Me” and my vision for this blog.  However, I cannot Not write about this crazy week!  I live in the Metro Atlanta area and well if you have turned on your TV, checked your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram feeds you might have seen us!!  Words that were trending "#SnowedOutAtlanta #SnowJam2014 #atlsnow #atlantartica

This picture pretty much summed it up: A scene from the Walking Dead and Atlanta on Tuesday.

The stories of what friends and neighbors went through to make it home was so heartbreaking and I couldn’t sleep till I knew everyone was either home or in a safe place.

Read what you want and say what you feel but it was a “perfect storm” of sorts and I know everyone in Atlanta (and surrounding states) will now have emergency kits in their cars.

Be Safe

My first Post on a Blog Ever!!!

Let me start off by saying WELCOME to HKL Designs.  It truly is a pleasure to have you along on this ride with me.  What started out as a party favor has, well turned into something I never imagined.

And how did this get started.  Let’s go back to September 2012.  I was planning my daughter’s 3rd birthday party.  Minnie Mouse was the theme—think pink polka dots and lots of Ears!  I was tired of the traditional “candy in a bag” party favor and wanted something different.  I stumbled upon inexpensive water bottles (thank you dollar store) in pink & blue and thought “These will be perfect-now if only I could put the kids names on them somehow, without it coming off”.    Well along comes my friend, Megan (yes, this is her real name).  Megan tells me about this fantastic machine that she has that cuts anything, I mean anything.  I investigate a bit and ask her if I could borrow it.  And this is what it produced:

I was beyond excited on how cute they came out.  Each water bottle had Mickey Mouse Ears on one side (I started off simple, now I know how to add the bow!!) and the other side had each guests initial in a Disney style font.

The party goers loved them and parents inquired “where did you get these?”.  I responded with a proud smile “I made them”.  The next day, one of the moms called me and asked if I could make them for her son’s birthday party.   Welcome to HKL Designs!!

The party was a success!
